Alison Freeman moved to accept the 2026 calendar as presented (without Indigenous Peoples’ Day); David Polito seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The approved calendar lists open and closed dates for standard federal and municipal-observed holidays in 2026; the committee noted specific closures and openings including Memorial Day, Independence Day (with July 3 listed as a legal holiday closure), Labor Day, Veterans Day, Juneteenth, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The committee also asked staff to confirm operational capacity for consecutive holiday periods and to consider contingency plans if bulky-waste hauling or compactor servicing cannot be completed during holiday weekends.
The committee set its next regular meeting for Nov. 13, 2025.
