Georgetown committee: year‑to‑date solid waste spending at 84.6%; maintenance and phone lines over budget

At the July 9 meeting the Georgetown Solid Waste Management Committee reviewed the year‑to‑date financial statement through June 30, 2025 and heard that 84.6% of the total solid waste disposal budget has been expended.
Dave Polito summarized the line‑item status: the maintenance and repairs line is over budget by 47.5%, driven primarily by a recent pothole repair at the transfer station, and the phone/internet line is over budget by 68.3%. Polito said those overruns have been covered by other line items that are under budget.
Polito also reported that tipping and hauling costs represent about 75% of that disposal line. Committee discussion noted that the fiscal year may still receive late invoices and the presented statement is not the final year‑end closing.
No formal budget action was taken at the meeting; the committee will continue monitoring expenditures as year‑end invoices are resolved.
