Pomerene School Governing Board approves policy advisory and new evaluation tools

The Pomerene School Governing Board approved a first reading of Policy Services Advisory No. 808 and adopted new evaluation tools for the superintendent and teachers at its Jan. 13, 2025 regular meeting.

The board opened the meeting at 6:15 p.m. and approved the agenda on a motion by Don Fenn, seconded by Janelle Blaschke; the vote was 4-0 with Lianna Contreras recorded as absent. The consent agenda — including Dec. 9, 2024 minutes, ratification of payroll and expense vouchers, and personnel action items — was approved on a motion by Paul Walker and a second from Janelle Blaschke by the same 4-0 margin.

Under Action Items, the board considered Policy Services Advisory No. 808 for first reading. Board member Danna Judd moved approval, Don Fenn seconded, and the motion passed 4-0. The board then reviewed and approved a proposed superintendent evaluation tool and accompanying goals on a motion from Janelle Blaschke, seconded by Paul Walker; that motion also passed unanimously. Finally, the proposed teacher evaluation tool was approved on a motion by Danna Judd, seconded by Janelle Blaschke, with a 4-0 vote.

No member voted against or abstained in any of the recorded motions; the meeting record notes Lianna Contreras as absent for roll call and votes. The board took no executive-action at the meeting; the posted executive-session notice states that the board reserves the right to meet in executive session for personnel matters under A.R.S. 38-431.03.A.1 but that no action will be taken there.

The board set its next regular meeting for Feb. 10, 2025, and adjourned at 6:31 p.m.
