Alvo to use MAPA for grant work; Alvo Days yields park donations and volunteers

Vice Chair Cathina Schueth told trustees July 2 that MAPA will provide the Village of Alvo with grant-writing, grant-management, nuisance-abatement and GIS services at no direct cost, with an immediate emphasis on Community Development Block Grants (CDBGs).
The clerk reported that, as announced during Alvo Days, the park has been designated Alvo Memorial Park; the village collected $575 in registration fees and $890 in park donations during the event. Citizen Dennis Tempelmeyer donated a 2-inch pole and two stop signs for the 2nd Street and Harrison Street intersection; trustees said they will discuss installation under the agenda's old-business item.
Trustees also noted that a chainsaw purchase previously approved in February fell through and that Chris Julifs volunteered to help with tree maintenance alongside Vice Chair Schueth and Trustee Gary Estes.
MAPA services will be available for the village to support grant applications and related project management; the board did not vote on a separate financial commitment at the meeting because MAPA's services were presented as a no-cost offering to the village.
Next steps recorded in the minutes include use of MAPA services for CDBG-related work and continued discussion of donated and approved maintenance equipment at upcoming meetings.
