The Town of Bremen Board of Selectmen voted April 17 to adopt a new mooring fee schedule proposed by the Harbor Committee and to appoint municipal election workers, officials said.
Melanee Osier Gilbert of the Harbor Committee presented the fee schedule to the board and said mooring owners will receive a letter and a new mooring application outlining the required information and the deadline for return "per ordinance" to ensure compliance. The board approved the schedule on a 2-0-1 vote. The fee structure as presented lists Residential Recreational and Commercial moorings at $35 per year, Non-Residential Recreational moorings at $125 per year, and Non-Resident Commercial moorings at $75 per year.
Chair Wendy Pieh moved the motions approving the fee structure and other items; Selectman Stephen Page seconded. The meeting record consistently shows votes of 2-0-1; the transcript does not identify which member, if any, recorded as the abstention or the reason for the third tally figure.
The board also appointed the following people to serve as ballot clerks for the municipal election: Melanie Pendleton, Keena Cates, Cheryl Ferrara, Mary Sue Weeks, Annette Bossler, Jeanne Titherington and Sandra Thomas. On the same 2-0-1 vote the board appointed Melanie Pendleton to serve as Warden for the municipal election.
In other business, Ann Nesslage of the BCC reported that the BCC will conduct some roadside cleanup this year and is considering working with the town to organize a larger effort next year; the board noted that a dog-waste container has been ordered for the Hilton O'Connor property and will be installed when received. The board voted 2-0-1 to approve the annual report cover choice and to approve the minutes of April 3, 2025.
On a subsequent motion the board approved the April 11, 2025 warrant and the abatement minutes of April 3, 2025, again by recorded votes of 2-0-1; the board voted to enter executive session at 5:36 p.m. and adjourned at 5:45 p.m. The meeting record is attested by Town Clerk Melanie Pendleton.
The transcript indicates the mooring ordinance provides the information requirements referenced by the Harbor Committee presentation, but it does not specify a citation, the effective date for the new fees or which exact deadline will appear on the owners' letters. Those details were not specified in the meeting record.
