Story County supervisors approve wide consent agenda, renew insurance, and award conservation bids

Items approved included the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool renewal application for $602,237 (effective 7/1/26–6/30/27); FY27 provider and program participation agreements with Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance, HIRTA (Heart of Iowa Transit Agency), The Salvation Army, and Nevada Food at First (each with service rates and not‑to‑exceed amounts noted in the packet); service agreements for private well water testing with Justin Rewerts; and a cooperative five‑year 28E agreement with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for private water well permitting.
The Board also approved amendments and professional services agreements for park and conservation projects, including Amendment #2 with Shive Hattery for Dakins Lake cabin design (construction administration/observation not to exceed $44,500), LT Leon Associates' construction administration for CJ Shrek Water Trail access (not to exceed $22,000), and a cooperative agreement with Prairie Rivers of Iowa RC&D for water quality monitoring ($35,500). Bid awards in the packet included Resolution #26‑99 (Deppe Family Conservation Area development bid award to GTG Construction LLC, $375,654.77) and Resolution #26‑100 (CJ Shrek Water Trail Access Improvements bid award to Hands On Excavation LLC, $149,554.60); those were approved by roll call vote.
Separately, the Board authorized release of bid documents for Justice Center parking lot resurfacing and approved a $30,000 release from Local Option Sales Tax for the Reed‑Niland Corner restoration to coincide with an open house on 6/14/26. A $2,000 façade improvement grant for the City of Slater was also approved. Most motions were moved by Supervisor Lisa Heddens and seconded by Chair Linda Murken; roll call votes were unanimous.
