Ridenour recommended the low bid of $157,089 from Truck Center Companies in Elk Run Heights, Iowa, for a Western Star 47X chassis and the board approved the purchase (motion 26.166). The minutes record the purchase price and vendor; the equipment is intended for secondary road maintenance and replacement as listed in the 5-year program.
Bids were opened and read for a total of 124,098 tons of gravel rock across seven divisions. Vendors and sample division prices recorded in the minutes include Bard Materials (Division III $11.52/ton), Mielke’s Quarry (Division VI $10.85/ton), Bruening Rock (multiple divisions, e.g., Division I $12.999/ton) and Strong Rock & Gravel (multiple divisions at $10.825/ton). The county engineer will review the bids and return to the board with a formal recommendation prior to awarding contracts.
The board approved the IDOT Secondary Road budget and the truck purchase during the meeting and directed staff to process the equipment purchase and follow procurement procedures for rock contracts after bid review.
