At the Feb. 5 meeting, departmental reports covered building permits, ordinance drafts and road maintenance.
Kevin Brodie, the town's CEO, told Selectpersons he issued three permits in January totaling $611.75 and submitted a 5/10 Year Plan, proposed plumbing fees and draft Short-Term and Long-Term Rental ordinances that will be reviewed at the next meeting. "In January, Kevin issued 3 permits totaling $611.75," the minutes record.
Road Commissioner George Moon reported ongoing road matters: he asked whether there is documentation related to a DEP violation at the Simons Farm property and said a letter to Merrill's Blueberry about posting a section of road had been drafted and sent. Moon also reported more salt and sand had been ordered and that town-owned roads are scheduled to be closed starting March 1, 2025.
Amy Johnson raised questions about the Event Committee's need for direction, a budget and by-laws; Selectperson Cheryl Robinson said she would research the committee's needs.
Why it matters: the ordinance drafts could lead to future regulatory changes on rental properties; the DEP question and road posting may affect nearby property owners and travelers when closures begin March 1.
Next steps: Selectpersons will review the submitted drafts at a future meeting, Tonja Long will process the tax agreement and abatements approved at this meeting, and Road Commissioner Moon will follow up on DEP documentation and the posted road segment.
