Calhoun County supervisors approve permits, contracts, hires and canvass results

The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors recorded a series of routine approvals and votes at its June 9 meeting in Rockwell City.
Key actions recorded in the minutes included: approval of Underground Construction Permit 8-2026 (Calhoun County Electric Cooperative Association, 650 ft URD for grain bin and tree clearance); approval of Underground Construction Permit 9-2026 (Calhoun County Electric Cooperative Association, 600 ft URD); approval of Underground Construction Permit 6-2026 (Webster-Calhoun Cooperative Telephone Association, buried fiber optics 5 miles north of Lake City); approval of a GFC copier contract; approval of Webster-Calhoun Cooperative Telephone Calhoun County Utility Drainage Crossing Permit C-19U-2026; and approval of the hire of Savannah Pieczko in the Facilities department (effective June 1, 2026). All motions were recorded as passing with "Ayes all."
The board reviewed and allowed claims checks (82083-82182), bank drafts (DFT0005993-0006004 and DFT0006007), drainage claims checks (82183-82188) and stamped warrants (506046-506066). The board temporarily convened Trustees for Calhoun County Drainage to consider drainage matters and then returned to regular session.
On a roll-call vote, supervisors approved Resolution 2026-19 supporting an application for voluntary annexation to the City of Pomeroy (roll call: Ayes Ridgely, George, Jacobs). The board also accepted canvass results from the June 2, 2026 Primary Election and recorded nominations for several county offices, including Scott Jacobs for County Board of Supervisor District 2 (Republican), Cathy Voith for County Recorder (Republican), Benjamin Smith for County Attorney (Republican) and Jena Patzner for County Auditor to fill vacancy (Republican).
The meeting adjourned with the next regular meeting scheduled for June 16 at 9:00 a.m.
