Bremen assessing agent says contract ends in 2026; abatement hearing set for March 6

James Murphy, the Town of Bremen’s Assessing Agent, told the Board the contract for his services runs through June 30, 2026, and that at the end of his contract he will provide suggestions and potential options for replacement assessing agents.
Murphy also reported the town received an additional tax abatement request on Feb. 13 and scheduled a hearing on that request for Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. He said the town office will advertise the hearing and notify the applicant.
The board noted the update but did not take additional action on assessor succession at the Feb. 20 meeting; the abatement hearing date was set so the matter can be considered at a future session.
