Bremen authorizes up to $60,000 for Town Landing repairs and stabilization

The Bremen Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to authorize up to $60,000 for repairs and stabilization work at Town Landing. The motion, made by Selectman John "Boe" Marsh and seconded by Selectman Steve Page, passed 3-0.
Tom Papell, representing the Harbor Committee, presented an estimate prepared by Lester Anderson that calls for replacing pilings, removing and replacing rotted wood on the dock, adding bracing under the dock structure, and placing rip rap on the bank to stabilize the shoreline. Papell told the board that the stabilization work requires a PBR and is in process with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Selectmen approved the expenditure authorization to allow the necessary work to proceed; the motion permits expenditure "up to $60,000." The minutes do not record line-item funding sources or a contract award at this meeting.
During the same discussion members of the public raised concerns about snow accumulation and access at Town Landing; one commenter suggested plowing snow to create a circular turn for the school bus. The board did not record a separate funding action for snow removal in the minutes.
