Bremen fire chief seeks Maine EMS grant funding and proposes bottle-return donation box; board approves emergency plan

Jim Corbett, representing Bremen Fire and Bremen Rescue, asked the Selectmen on March 20 for permission to complete a Maine EMS grant application under the Maine Sustainability program to fund items such as a heat pump, a television for the training room and replacement AEDs.
Corbett also proposed a bottle-return donation box at the Fire Station to raise additional funds; he said he would collect bottles on Saturday mornings and take them to the redemption center. The board indicated support for both the grant application and the bottle-return concept and said it would call a future vote once the application, drop-box design and location on town property are finalized.
Separately, the board addressed a Loss Prevention (MMA) audit that found no emergency plan on file. The Selectmen reviewed a drafted Emergency Action Plan and voted 3-0 (motion by Selectman Marsh, seconded by Selectman Page) to approve the plan. The board also voted 3-0 to approve warrants dated Feb. 28 and Mar. 14, 2025 and the minutes of Feb. 20, 2025. The board later entered executive session at 5:26 p.m. and adjourned at 5:44 p.m.
Ann Nesslage of the Bremen Conservation Commission reported on a recent invasive-plant informational meeting, requested two picnic tables for the Hilton O'Connor property and said Naomi Martin will take a Stewardship course with costs covered by the BCC.
