Mineral Springs School Board adopts 2025–2026 budget, approves financials and pay additions

The Mineral Springs School Board voted unanimously on Sept. 30 to adopt the district’s 2025–2026 budget and to accept the most recent financial report.
District Treasurer Frankie Tollett presented the financial statement showing a legal fund balance of $1,269,851.79 without certificates of deposit, $1,342,887.36 including CDs, and an all-fund balance of $2,005,702.05. Barnado Thomas moved to approve the financial statement; Xavier Vaughn seconded. The motion carried, 6-0.
The board then considered the proposed 2025–2026 budget. Superintendent Amerson asked for approval; Ray Hawkins moved to adopt the budget and Xavier Vaughn seconded. The motion carried, 6-0.
During routine ethics disclosures the board approved three statements. While President William Dixon briefly left the room, the board approved a disclosure concerning Dixon’s wife, Donna Dixon, and her Homecoming Decoration Services (motion by Ricky Gamble; second by S. Kay Slaton; carried 5-0 in Dixon’s absence). The board approved a disclosure for Ashley Thomas related to reduced-rate Homecoming mums (motion by Ricky Gamble; second by Ray Hawkins; carried 5-0). Later the board approved a disclosure for Treasurer Frankie Tollett noting that her son is employed by BSN (motion by Ray Hawkins; second by Ricky Gamble; carried 6-0). These disclosures were recorded and approved as presented.
The board also approved additions to the salary schedule covering Gate, Concession, Chain crew, Announcer, Clock Keeper, Pee-Wee Officials, and Arena cleaning. Barnado Thomas moved to add the positions and Ray Hawkins seconded; the motion carried, 6-0.
