The Mineral Springs School Board accepted a verbal resignation from paraprofessional Tara Green and approved the hiring of Donae’ Poindexter for a custodial position at its Oct. 28 meeting.
Superintendent Amerson informed the board that Tara Green had turned in her badge, keys, and electronic device; the board voted 6–0 to accept the verbal resignation after Ray Hawkins moved and Xavier Vaughn seconded. On the new-hire item, Amerson said Poindexter had been subbing as a cleaner and was recommended by Mr. Bell for the vacancy; the board approved the hire 6–0 on a motion by Ricky Gamble and a second by Ray Hawkins.
Superintendent Amerson also congratulated Barnado Thomas and Xavier Vaughn on completing at least 25 ASBA training hours and receiving a Certificate of Boardsmanship. K–12 Principal Stacey Gaddis reported student and staff activities: K–6 will attend “Boo in the Shoe” at the park, ACT bootcamp is scheduled at the co-op, junior and senior students attended the Lockesburg Career Fair, Career Coaches had good turnout for FAFSA day, and the Veteran’s Day program is scheduled for Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.
