Mineral Springs board adopts proposed 2027–28 budget, approves financial statement and $1,000 staff bonuses

The Mineral Springs School Board at its Oct. 28 meeting approved the district financial statement, adopted the Proposed Budget of Expenditures for fiscal year July 1, 2027–June 30, 2028, and approved a $1,000 bonus for certified and classified staff to be disbursed before Thanksgiving.
District Treasurer Frankie Tollett presented the financial statement, reporting a legal fund balance without certificates of deposit of $877,762.42, a legal fund balance with CDs of $950,807.30, and an all-fund balance of $1,691,210.83. Xavier Vaughn moved to approve the financial statement and S. Kay Slaton seconded; the motion carried 6–0.
Superintendent Amerson recommended a $1,000 bonus for certified and classified staff to be paid before Thanksgiving. Ray Hawkins moved to approve the bonus and S. Kay Slaton seconded; the board approved the payment 6–0. Later in the meeting the board considered the Proposed Budget of Expenditures for July 1, 2027–June 30, 2028; Xavier Vaughn moved to approve the proposed budget as presented and Barnado Thomas seconded. That motion also carried 6–0.
The minutes do not list line-item budget totals or funding sources beyond the all-fund balance reported by the treasurer.
