Arapahoe council approves claims, carpet replacement and ballfield equipment; public suggests field dedication

The City Council of the City of Arapahoe on March 17 approved payroll and claims for the period March 4–17 and authorized several facility purchases and ballfield upgrades.
On a motion by Councilmember Middagh, seconded by Councilmember Polston, the council approved the claims and payroll covering the period; the roll call recorded approval by the five attending members with two named abstentions: Councilmember Paulsen abstained on check #103935 for $150.00 and Councilmember Middagh abstained on check #103938 for $722.41. The clerk’s claims listing shows total claims of $100,286.04 and payroll of $10,934.98; library expenses totaled $1,426.72.
City Clerk Dixie Sickels presented two quotes to replace carpet in the City Office and council room and noted she recently received her Certified Municipal Clerk designation. The council approved both carpet quotes on a motion by Councilmember Polston, seconded by Middagh.
Committee reports included downtown lighting discussion, and Councilmember Paulsen presented quotes for ballfield items. The council moved (Polston) and seconded (Middagh) to approve quotes for batting cage netting and backstop mats at the ball field; that motion carried by roll call of attending members.
During public forum resident William Dunn asked the council to consider dedicating the ball field in honor of Trenton; council members said discussions will continue but no formal action was taken at the meeting.
The council set its next regular meeting for April 7, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. and adjourned by unanimous consent at 8:22 p.m.
