Mineral Springs board approves financial report, policy update, insurance, accepts resignation and approves personnel terminations

Barnado Thomas moved and Ray Hawkins seconded approval of the financial statement; the motion carried 6-0.
The board approved an update to policy 4.47 after Superintendent Amerson presented the proposed change; Barnado Thomas moved to approve and Ricky Gamble seconded. The minutes record no public discussion about the policy.
The board approved accidental insurance offered through ASBA at $327.50 per year; Barnado Thomas moved and S. Kay Slaton seconded the motion, which carried 6-0.
Superintendent Amerson presented and the board accepted the resignation of Carla Smith, effective at the end of the school year; Ricky Gamble moved to accept the resignation and S. Kay Slaton seconded. The board approved the resignation 6-0.
On a personnel matter, Amerson proposed terminating employment of two food-service employees, Cavangla Wade and Nastassi Scoggins, citing Policy 8.45. The board entered executive session at 6:40 p.m. and returned at 6:59 p.m.; Barnado Thomas moved to approve the terminations and Xavier Vaughn seconded. The motion carried 6-0.
