The Town of Dennis health department told the Board of Health it has begun using a contracted vendor and software to identify and enforce short‑term rental (STR) licensing and inspection requirements.
The health department said it contracted Deckard Technologies and is using Rentalscape software to cross‑reference the town’s list of short‑term rental properties with online listings. Staff have already identified several unlicensed properties and are vetting those matches before sending enforcement notices. The department will handle enforcement (notices, applications, fees and inspections) and is coordinating with the building department, which is required to perform annual inspections under the new building code. Officials described the effort as a heavy lift this first year but said the process should smooth out as the program continues.
