Officials noted permitting will determine building elevation because the site is in a velocity zone and accessibility features may require switchbacks. Staff said prospective contractors toured the site 2 weeks before bids were due and that the town expects a signed contract soon so the architect can begin detailed planning and meet with departments and stakeholders.
Committee members discussed forming a project committee, involving a representative to work closely with the architect, and ensuring lessons from prior bathhouse projects inform procurement and construction choices.
Next steps: staff will report back when architect contracts are signed and expects to invite the architect to a future committee meeting to discuss timelines, permitting and stakeholder input.
