Economic development director reports downtown planters success, Pure Nebraska visit and regional outreach

Cheryl Carson, Arnold’s Economic Development Director, presented a summer update to the Board on June 9 covering downtown beautification, recent media visits and upcoming regional outreach.
Carson said 23 downtown businesses participated in the summer flower planter program; seven commercial locations do not have available planters and one business did not pick up a voucher. She described the program as successful and appreciated by participating businesses.
Carson reported that Pure Nebraska visited Arnold on June 3; the episode featuring Grazers aired on June 4, and the Finch Memorial Library segment has an air date that is not yet known. She said she showed the visitor Arnold Lake Campground and Recreation Area to discuss ideas for future visits.
Carson also previewed a June 19 visit by a 6 Regions One Nebraska Mid Plains Region representative as part of Governor Pillen’s initiative to encourage regional collaboration; the focus will include housing projects, the Comprehensive Plan, zoning and nuisance procedures.
The Board approved Economic Development Fund claims and reimbursed AEDC items related to Carson's activities.
