Parker council forms committee to study electronic sign rules and approves several board appointments

Council reviewed a Planning & Zoning recommendation that the city not change its electronic‑sign ordinance. Several council members said they were concerned by inconsistent sign treatments and a lack of continuity; others said the number of such signs in Parker is small and the planning commission could manage individual requests. After discussion, council voted 4–1 to create a study committee chaired by Council member Barron, with Council member Bogdan, a staff designee and alternate commissioner Allison Sumrow serving as members. The committee will draft guidelines and return them to council.
On board appointments, the council appointed Derek Bradley to the Zoning Board of Adjustment (alternate position #2). The council also moved Susan Medrano from alternate to a voting member of the Planning & Zoning Commission and appointed Allison Sumrow to fill the now‑vacant alternate slot; all appointments were approved by voice vote and recorded on the meeting record.
Council indicated it expects the committee to consult with planning staff and commission members and to bring draft language back for formal consideration rather than leaving ad hoc decisions to single‑case approvals.
The council then recessed into executive session for personnel/board discussions and returned to announce the appointments and the committee formation.
