Arnold trustees approve claims, fund transfer and infrastructure contracts

At a July 14 meeting at the Arnold Community Center, the Village of Arnold Board of Trustees approved routine claims and financial reports, authorized multiple contracts and fund moves, and opened and closed a public hearing on the six-month review of the village Economic Development Program.
The Clerk presented lists of claims and the Treasurer reported balances across funds (General Fund $109,865.53; Electric Fund $830,534.49; Street Fund $201,117.32; Water $59,088.04; Sewer $67,330.21). The Board approved the Treasurer's Report and the claims presented on the agenda. Two separate votes addressed claims payable to Country Partners Cooperative; the Board ultimately approved payment with Trustee Donnell DeLosh recording an abstention on those payments.
During a public hearing on the Economic Development Program, Cheryl Carson, Economic Development Director, reported she had briefed the Citizen Advisory Committee and said copies of the AEDC Director's Report (January–June) are available to the public. There were no public comments and the hearing was closed.
The board also took the following actions: it approved transferring $5,000 from the Solid Waste Fund to the Closure/Post Closure Care Account per the 2024–2025 budget; authorized Chairman Zach Hagler to sign a $7,500 agreement with Arnold Public School for Community Center use in 2025–26; accepted Atlas Automation's $1,250 quote to add a backup power source at the water tower and master controller; authorized the Village Clerk to apply for a Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) grant for a scrap tire cleanup event; and accepted a $2,232 proposal to replace the existing fire alarm panel with a Farenhyt IFP-300B unit.
Eric Holmberg informed the board he has coordinated with Kristopher Stahr of the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, who will prepare a spray program for aquatic vegetation in the ARA lake. The board noted no sealed bids were submitted for the Carroll Street Courts Project and directed the Village Clerk to contact contractors.
Votes were recorded for each motion; most actions passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
