The Norton Planning Board voted to elect Allan as chair, Steve as vice chair and Bridget as clerk during its April 21 meeting. Roll-call voting recorded unanimous affirmative responses among voting members for the officer slate, and the board confirmed representatives to regional committees and the Historic District Commission.
The vote followed nominations from board members and a brief discussion of responsibilities tied to each role. Members noted the clerk’s duties will be heavier this year because of a new worksheet and increased recordkeeping; the board asked members to be prepared for more administrative follow-up.
The board also assigned members to external and internal committees. Steve was confirmed as the town’s representative to the Historic District Commission and as the regional (Serpent/region) representative; Ellen and others were assigned or volunteered for the Capital Improvement Committee and related roles. Several appointments were made by motion and recorded by roll call.
Administrative notes from the meeting: the board agreed the chair should run in-person meetings even when other members attend remotely; members were reminded to notify town staff early when they must miss a meeting so applicants can be informed and, where appropriate, asked for continuances. The board confirmed upcoming meeting dates including May 5, June 2 and June 16.
The meeting adjourned after the board completed elections and committee assignments.
