Ashland approves Ordinance 1255 to annex contiguous tract into city limits

City Attorney Mark Fahleson read the ordinance title in full before the council voted. The motion to approve the third and final reading was made by Council President Chuck Niemeyer and seconded by Council Member Jim Pinkman; the roll-call vote was recorded as unanimous.
The ordinance directs the annexation be recorded with the Saunders County Register of Deeds, repeals conflicting ordinances or sections, and provides for an effective date and publication in pamphlet form as required. Notice of the meeting was published in the Ashland Gazette on Jan. 2, 2026.
With the passage of Ordinance 1255 the council completed the formal adoption steps recorded in the meeting minutes; no appeal or additional procedural action was recorded at the Jan. 5 meeting.
