Emmet County approves Mediacom utility permit and awards low bid for county fuel

John Pluth moved, and Jeff Quastad seconded, to approve a Mediacom utility permit for work along County Road A34 (230th Street) from State Highway 4 west roughly 2,400 feet; the board voted unanimously to approve the permit.
During fuel letting, Allison Fisher and Travis Fredericksen presented bids from New Century FS, New Cooperative, NuWay‑K & H Cooperative and Pro Cooperative. The board approved the low bid from New Century FS: total fuel line items listed as $385,271.20 and LP fuel (7,500 gallons) for $8,992.50; the motion to award the contract passed unanimously.
County employee Dan Burton updated the board on the A17 bridge construction, reporting that a cofferdam has been installed on the east pier and that the old bridge is "completely out," signaling active removal and replacement work. Burton and Fredericksen also provided a general road report to the board.
The board handled these items during its regular meeting in the courthouse board room before moving to finance and drainage business later in the agenda.
