The proposal also includes a periodic review requirement by the superintendent or designee and a mechanism to suspend a district policy for up to one calendar year, except where federal or state law prevents suspension.
Committee members discussed the recommendations and noted that some language comes from the assembly platform's sample policies; legal and LSBA review will continue. The committee moved to consider the recommended changes and the motion was seconded; no final vote was recorded in the committee discussion on June 16.
The committee will return the proposed policy revisions for further review and any legal edits before seeking formal board action.
