The Danville Heritage/Historic District Commission approved a small planting budget and discussed a multi-site planting plan at its April 8 meeting.
Vice Chair Sayra DeVito outlined plans to plant daffodils next year and to plant crab apple saplings in the fall. She reported the state nursery had run out of larger saplings and said Tractor Supply typically stocks trees about 12–15 feet tall in May. Commissioners discussed spacing and size differences (dwarf, mid-size, full), noting mixed sizes can cause crowding and overshadowing. Carsten Springer said he had reserved county crew assistance for planting during the second week of May, and Bobby Loree offered a watering device to support summer care.
The commission agreed to focus plantings at the little red schoolhouse (a parcel described in the minutes as roughly 40 by 40 feet with town property extending about 10–15 feet toward the woods) and at the stagecoach stop. Commissioners voted to authorize spending up to $100 for crab apple trees; the motion passed unanimously.
