The Newington Parks & Recreation board approved three sponsorship motions for the Life Extravaganza at Mil Pond (July 15–18, 2026). Trish moved to accept a $1,500 public–private partnership agreement with B&M Tree Service to sponsor an interactive clown-toss game; the motion received a second and passed on voice vote.
Beth Marie moved to accept a $1,500 public–private partnership agreement with Yearround Planscape to sponsor an interactive activity at the same event; that motion was seconded and passed on voice vote. Both sponsorships were described as event revenue that will be used to support programming and concessions.
Separately, the board approved allowing the Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association (CRPA) to host an entertainment showcase at the Morris Community Center on Feb. 12, 2027, with facility rental fees, school-bus fees, fire-watch fees and other miscellaneous fees to be negotiated by the superintendent of parks and recreation. Staff said the specific fee amounts will be set later.
Staff also reported that the fireworks site plan had prior local approval from the outgoing fire marshal and that the necessary paperwork had been sent to the state for final approval; shooters were confirmed but final state permit remains pending.
Why it matters: sponsorships provide a modest but immediate revenue stream for the Life Extravaganza and the CRPA showcase commitment locks in a 2027 date while leaving fee negotiations to staff.
What’s next: staff will finalize sponsorship paperwork, negotiate rental/ancillary fees for the CRPA showcase and follow up with the state on the fireworks permit.
