Daniels County opens bids for surplus ambulance; $50,000 offer rejected, county asks bidder to consider $90,000

The bid from PLS Community Ambulance was recorded in the meeting materials and listed Seth Gibbs as the submitter. Commissioners said recent comparable resale prices for prior ambulances had been roughly $100,000 to $110,000 and that $50,000 would be insufficient to cover the county’s expectations for the surplus vehicle.
A message played from Michael Pund, identified in the recording as chairman of the Daniels County Commission, told the bidder: "unfortunately we cannot accept your bid of 50,000; we would be willing to take 90,000 if you think you could do that. If that's a possibility please give a call back to 406 Lee Hinley area code 406; he is our emergency personnel head." The commission also discussed alternatives, including holding the unit for resale, repurposing the ambulance box for remounting, or offering it to other local buyers.
The board asked staff to follow up with bidders and consider re-advertising if necessary; commissioners indicated they expected to revisit the sale as additional bids arrive.
