Kennebunk Select Board approves fire‑rescue equipment and facility bids and signs MDOT overlimit permits

Brush truck skid unit: Fire Chief Justin Cooper recommended retrofitting an existing vehicle (Car 3) with a skid unit rather than purchasing a new brush truck. After reviewing six bids, the Board awarded the contract to Fire Line Equipment, LLC (New Holland, Pa.) for $22,250.75. The project was budgeted at $15,000; the Board approved covering the $7,250.75 shortfall from the department’s equipment line. The motion passed 7-0.
Central Fire Station floor: The Board awarded the concrete floor contract to Industrial Concrete Services (Saco) for $37,250 to replace VCT tile with polished concrete in common living spaces. The amount budgeted was $36,000; the Board approved using $1,250 from the building maintenance budget to cover the difference. The Fire Chief said the slightly higher local bid was chosen in part to minimize operational disruption and support a local contractor. Motion passed 7-0.
MDOT overlimit permits: The Board approved three Maine Department of Transportation overlimit permits under 29‑A M.R.S.A. §2382 to allow overweight construction equipment for MDOT projects: #027522.00 (US Route 1 between Wells and Kennebunk), #029414.00 (Route 9 in Wells, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport), and #029702.00 (Route 99 in Kennebunk). Each motion passed by show‑of‑hands, 7-0, and the Town Manager was asked to sign the permits following the meeting.
Procedural items: The Board voted to enter executive session under Title 1 M.R.S.A. §405(6)(A) at 8:06 p.m. to discuss employment/compensation matters and exited at 8:48 p.m. with nothing to report. The meeting adjourned at 8:49 p.m.
