Sheriff asks county to authorize state security access and schedules Motorola console site walk

The sheriff told Daniels County commissioners Aug. 5 that Motorola project staff will visit county offices on Aug. 28 for a site walk and PowerPoint review as part of a console installation for dispatch, and asked commissioners to write a letter on county letterhead naming which officials should be authorized in the state's security/access group.
The sheriff said the county pays for state services but current firewall/security group membership prevents dispatch from receiving some data; as a result dispatch is doing duplicate work between Omnex and the CAD system, prolonging traffic stops. She asked that commissioners designate two county officials (a commissioner and a county staff member) to be added to the security group so the state can provision access and resolve the data flow issue.
County leaders and the sheriff discussed logistics for the Motorola walkthrough, availability of conference rooms and the need to avoid interrupting 911 operations. The sheriff also explained the operational impact: duplicated input steps that slow traffic-stop processing and the risk that county staff cannot access state systems if they are not designated.
The board agreed to prepare a letter on letterhead identifying the county officials to add to the security group and to support the site visit; a specific signature list will be produced following the meeting to expedite state access.
