The RSU 85/MSAD 19 school committee adopted a new policy, appointed staff, and elected an officer during its Nov. 7 meeting.
Wanda Reed moved and Jane Lanctot seconded adoption of policy BHD (Expenses for Regional & National Conferences or Conventions) on its second reading; the board voted unanimously to adopt the policy as written. The committee opened second readings of two other policy revisions — BDA (Board Organizational Meeting) and BDB (Board Officers) — and tabled both items until the next meeting.
On personnel matters the board unanimously appointed Eric Shore to serve three days per week as the district’s physical education teacher beginning Dec. 2. The motion to appoint Shore was moved by Richard Huntley Jr. and seconded by Richard Eaton. The committee also elected Wanda Reed as the AOS alternate; that motion was moved by Jane Lanctot and seconded by Richard Huntley Jr.
At the start of the meeting the committee approved the Oct. 10 meeting minutes; the motion, moved by Jane Lanctot and seconded by Richard Huntley Jr., passed 4-0-1 with Trisha McCurdy recorded as abstaining as a new board member. Superintendent MaryEllen H. Day circulated a revenue and expense report for October and announced staff appointments and a resignation recorded in the minutes.
