Readfield board elects Shawn Keegan as chair, reappoints town manager and municipal officers, and fills volunteer posts

At its June 30 meeting the Readfield Select Board elected Shawn Keegan chair and Dave Linton vice chair; appointed Ben Austin to the trails committee; promoted John Mitchell to full planning board member; reappointed Eric Dyer to multiple municipal roles; and approved Lee M as fire chief and Karen Peterson as transfer station manager.
The Readfield Select Board on June 30 reorganized leadership and approved several appointments and reappointments.
The board moved to appoint Shawn Keegan as chair and Dave Linton as vice chair; the motion passed and Keegan assumed the seat. The board then appointed Ben Austin to the Greenfield Trails Committee for a term running through June 30, 2027 after Austin introduced himself and said he lives on South Road and wants to help with trails.
The board accepted the resignation of Bill Buck from the planning board and promoted John Mitchell from alternate to full planning board member (five-year term). Members noted Mitchell’s age as acceptable for service.
The board reappointed Eric Dyer as town manager and to associated roles — treasurer, tax collector, road commissioner, welfare administrator and public access officer — for one year. Dyer described the managerial nature of the roles and identified deputies who perform day-to-day duties.
The board also reappointed Lee M as fire chief and appointed Karen Peterson as transfer station manager for the coming fiscal year. Members thanked staff and volunteers for their service.
All motions related to these appointments were approved by voice vote as recorded in the meeting transcript.
