Murray trustees adopt FY2024–25 budget, property tax request and employee wage ordinance

The Murray Board of Trustees on Sept. 10 adopted the village budget for fiscal year Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025, approved a property tax request different from the prior year and enacted an ordinance establishing employee wages and benefits effective Oct. 1, 2024. Chairman Jeff Anderson presided over the meeting at the Murray Municipal Building.

The board adopted Resolution 24-08 to approve the budget, which the minutes say includes a base limitation percent increase of 2.5% and an additional discretionary limitation increase of 1%. Trustee George Blessing moved to adopt the resolution and Trustee Stan Flak seconded; Trustees Blessing, Flak, Zach Schroeder, Rowdy Woodard and Jeff Anderson voted aye and the motion carried.

Trustee Rowdy Woodard moved and Trustee Stan Flak seconded to adopt Resolution 24-09, setting the property tax request for the same fiscal year at an amount the minutes record as different from the prior year. The motion carried on a unanimous vote.

Chairman Anderson introduced Ordinance #688 by title as the annual appropriation bill for the village. Trustee Rowdy Woodard moved to approve Ordinance #688 on first reading by title and to suspend the three required statutory readings; the board voted unanimously and subsequently adopted, posted and published the ordinance on third and final reading by title only.

The board also considered Ordinance #689, described in the minutes as establishing wages and benefits for village employees effective Oct. 1, 2024. Trustee Rowdy Woodard moved and Trustee George Blessing seconded to approve the ordinance on first reading by title and suspend statutory readings; the board then adopted, posted and published Ordinance #689 on third and final reading by title only, with unanimous ayes.

These actions were recorded in the minutes as carried by unanimous votes. The meeting adjourned at 8:34 p.m.
