Lancaster updates street-repair projects in proposed FY2024–25 budget

Lancaster City Manager told the City Council on Aug. 19 that the proposed fiscal year 2024–25 budget preserves the same CO-project funding total but replaces a previously listed single-street repair with several named street projects.
At a work session, the City Manager said the budget for the streets department continues to include $1,592,300 for a CO project but that staff will “now do Balkan Drive from Sunny Meadows to Frank and we will do Franklin Street,” and that the list also includes “Elm Street from Donnelly to Pleasant Run and East 6th Street from North Dallas Avenue to North Jefferson.” The manager said the dollar amount in the budget does not change; the individual projects presented to council have been updated.
The manager reminded council members that they had been briefed on the proposed budget at an Aug. 5 work session and again on Aug. 12, and that a public town hall was held Aug. 15 to gather input. The council previously set a proposed tax rate for 2024–25 that the manager said represents a 3¢ decrease from the current fiscal year.
The council did not take a separate vote on these project reallocations during the Aug. 19 work session. The City Manager said staff will put the revised street list in a memo and distribute it to council members for the record.
The discussion was limited to the budget presentation and clarification of the revised project list; no public comment was recorded on the item.
