Murray trustees swear in George Blessing, name Jeff Anderson chair and declare trustee vacancy

The Murray Board of Trustees met Dec. 10, 2024, and administered the oath of office to Trustee George Blessing before reorganizing leadership and committee appointments for 2025.
Clerk Shelli Hayes administered the oath to George Blessing after the board completed its old-business items. Trustee Stan Flak then nominated Jeff Anderson to serve as chairperson for 2025; with no other nominations the board held a roll-call vote. The minutes record ayes from Blessing, Flak and Schroeder; Anderson abstained from the vote. The motion carried, installing Anderson as chair for the coming year.
Chair Anderson nominated the village’s slate of officers for 2025, which the board approved: Roger Johnson as village attorney; Shelli Hayes as clerk/treasurer; JEO Consulting Group as village engineer; and JEO — Steven A. Parr as street superintendent. The trustees also approved standing-committee commissioner appointments: Stan Flak as water commissioner, George Blessing as sewer commissioner and Zach Schroeder as parks commissioner. The streets-commissioner position was left vacant until the trustee vacancy is filled. The minutes list Cass County Emergency Management as the emergency-management contact and identify the board of health membership as the sheriff, a physician and the board chairperson.
During the Planning Commission report the board moved to acknowledge and declare a vacancy on the Board of Trustees because one trustee no longer resides within the municipal corporate limits, and directed the clerk to take action to comply with Ordinance 30.04 and provide public notice of the vacancy.
The board completed its business and adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
