Wakefield Youth Council approves minutes, schedules next term and thanks graduating members

The Wakefield Youth Council unanimously approved the minutes for its April and May meetings and handled routine scheduling and announcements at its June 15 session.
Nathaniel Chimes moved to approve both sets of minutes; the motion was seconded and carried with all members present voting to approve. The Chair declared the motion passed unanimously.
Liz told the Council that appointments to the 2026–2027 Youth Council will be made by the Town Council at its July 20 meeting and that the new term runs July–June; members said the Youth Council will most likely resume meetings in late August or September to accommodate summer schedules.
The Council also heard that the Youth Action Team is organizing an intergenerational ice-cream social in collaboration with the Council on Aging. The Chair said the Youth Council will help promote and attend the event but will not be the formal organizer; Liz said the event is likely to be held in July but a date had not yet been set.
Liz offered a public thank-you to graduating seniors and leadership members for their service: "a huge thank you to our graduates, our now graduates, or you're no longer seniors, for your years of service on the Youth Council," she said. The Chair responded with appreciation for the cohort’s accomplishments.
The meeting ended after a motion to adjourn, which passed unanimously at 4:37 p.m.
