The Roxbury Board of Selectmen on Oct. 24 voted unanimously to put a full replacement of the town building roof out to bid and to advertise for town auditors using the board’s selected solicitation language.
Chair Timothy Derouche said the roof leak that had been repaired warranted soliciting bids for a full replacement while the board explores standing seam roofing options; Selectman Matthew Patneaude seconded the motion and the vote was 3-0. Later in the meeting Derouche moved to put “Option 1” for auditor services out to bid; Patneaude seconded and the motion carried 3-0.
The board accepted the 2023 state valuation for the 2024 tax year after a motion from Derouche and a second from Selectman Ray Hodsdon, with the board noting members have until Nov. 15 to file an appeal if they have cause. The board also approved payment items and signed the warrant for $133,995.29; Chair Derouche moved to sign and Hodsdon seconded the motion, which passed 3-0. The board authorized payment of a Swaseys bill for Main Street as presented and asked that future bills be compared with original quotes for any necessary adjustments.
Other financial and maintenance items approved during the meeting included awarding a $3,000 scholarship and placing those funds in a seven-month certificate of deposit maturing in June 2024 (motion by Ray Hodsdon, second by Matthew Patneaude, vote 3-0), and approving a contract to clear brush at the town hall following review of a quote from Wyatt Carver (motion by Patneaude, second by Hodsdon, vote 3-0).
The board listed upcoming budget and planning meetings and asked staff to follow up on procurement steps and required documentation for contracts.
The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
