Sagadahoc County commissioners voted unanimously Sept. 10 to accept a three-year auditing contract from RKO following discussion of two comparable quotes.
Administrator Jill Jones and Finance Director Jill Flaherty presented the options. Jones described similar pricing from RHR and RKO and noted audit timeliness concerns, while Flaherty said she preferred to continue with RKO given the department’s working history. "I would prefer to continue with RKO, particularly in uncertain economic times," Flaherty said.
Commissioner Crosby asked about cost differences; Jones noted RKO’s first-year price is about $2,000 cheaper than RHR’s first-year figure. Commissioners weighed the trade-offs between a fresh vendor and continuity. After deliberation, a motion to accept RKO’s bid was made and passed unanimously.
The board did not detail the contract’s effective dates beyond the three-year term during the meeting minutes. The selection was recorded as a unanimous vote and will be implemented according to the county’s procurement procedures.
