The CRTPA unanimously approved the FY2028–2032 project priority lists to send to FDOT, formalizing the agency’s funding requests for nine project categories and multiple corridor phases.
Mr. Burke told the board the priority lists identify projects or phases for which funding has not yet been secured and that the lists will inform FDOT’s development of the state draft work program. Highlights included a request for $53 million for Woodville Highway, $100 million sought for right‑of‑way and construction phases on Crawfordville Road in Wakulla County, and $169 million across segments and phases for Orange Avenue.
On regional trails, Burke said Wakulla Springs Trail is fully funded for construction in FY31. The US‑90 West Trail remains in a feasibility study phase; Burke said the feasibility work will assess off‑corridor options in constrained urban areas and that the next phase sought would be a PD&E using SunTRAILS funding. He noted public meetings for the US‑90 study were scheduled this week in Chattahoochee and Quincy.
During questions, Commissioner asked for a status update on design for the Wakulla Springs Trail; Jack, the project manager, said, “The design for that trail is 100% completed right now,” and that SunTRAILS funding timing explains the FY31 construction year.
Separately, DOT representative Mr. Paul briefed the board on two projects: a SunTRAILS‑funded multi‑use path along US‑98 from Alligator Drive to Surf Road in Wakulla County, with design wrapping up, a public meeting Aug. 20 at the Panacea Community Center, a projected letting in July 2028 and a construction estimate of $5.5 million; and a Crawfordville Road widening (LL Wallace to State Road 61) with an anticipated letting in January 2028 and a $14 million estimate, with a public meeting set for Sept. 17 at the Woodville Community Center.
A board member raised constituent questions about Thomasville Road resurfacing and asked who is responsible for sidewalk improvements on South Adams and Orange; Mr. Paul said both sidewalks are on state roads under department administration and that staff had not located a specific project in the department records during the update.
The board also heard from the executive director about upcoming solicitations for a safety study and general planning consultant contracts; Commissioner O'Keefe and Commissioner Matlo were nominated as volunteers for the respective selection committees. The board adjourned with its next meeting scheduled for Sept. 28, 2026.
