RSU 23 reports federal relief grants and buys a bus; Jameson School repairs underway

The RSU 23 Board received financial and facilities updates at its Aug. 20, 2020 meeting, including two federal relief awards and progress on work at Jameson School.
Dave Boudreau, reporting for finance, said the district received $564,197.74 in Coronavirus relief funds and an additional $211,768 from the Elementary and Secondary School Relief Fund. He said the district used part of the funds to purchase a new bus, which was delivered to the district.
"$564,197.74 is the amount we received and out of that we received a new bus to accommodate the social distancing," the board summary reported, and the finance report noted the bus purchase was recently completed.
On facilities, Peter Flaherty said work at Jameson School is well under way with a focus on finishing interior work affecting teachers before Sept. 8; a recent walk-through with staff aimed to close up the exterior office area and minimize teacher impact.
The board also approved personnel policies related to Family & Medical Leave (GBN, GBN-R1 and GBN-R2) by a unanimous vote on a motion from Michelle Violette, seconded by Sally Beatty.
No budgetary votes beyond noting the grants and the bus purchase were recorded at the meeting. Board members said they will continue monitoring the Jameson School timeline and grant spending; the board adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
