Commissioners and staff said tablets have been a meaningful asset for inmate connections and programming but expressed the need for careful review of pricing, data use and policy language before authorizing the county to execute the agreements.
Jessica Gable, the county’s chief clerk, said the jail board’s operations and policies committee, together with the warden, the provider and the county solicitor, will review the contracts and return recommendations to the commission. The motion to table passed on a voice vote; the county intends to bring the items back after the committee completes its vetting.
Next steps: the jail operations and policies committee will work with legal counsel and the provider to finalize contract language and pricing details; the commission did not set a specific date to re‑take the items.
