The Kutztown Area School District used part of its June meeting to celebrate end-of-year accomplishments.
Superintendent’s report and graduation: the superintendent and Dr. Myers summarized May 28 graduation activities, noting the community parade down Main Street, participation by public-safety and municipal partners and student speakers. Dr. John Sigfrieded delivered a commencement keynote; district staff and volunteers were thanked for organizing the event.
Student-athlete recognitions: the board recognized the high school softball team for winning the Burks Division 3 championship, noted season records and postseason play, and presented tokens of appreciation to players and coaches. Individual track-and-field honors were also acknowledged, including district and state placings and conference recognitions; one student was presented as the PIAA girls track and field athlete of the year and salutatorian of the class of 2026.
The board applauded student achievements and extended best wishes to graduates and retiring staff whose service was recognized later in the agenda. These items were informational and were presented prior to routine business and votes.
