Mayor Snider announces interim Safety Service director, holiday events and project updates

He said the city hired Mr. Sass as interim Safety Service Director for eight to nine months and indicated Mr. Sass may remain until Dec. 31, 2026 if necessary while the administration conducts a national search for a permanent director in late spring or early summer. Snider thanked the Service Department and city staff for work on seasonal tasks.
The mayor also thanked Magruder Hospital for donating the downtown Christmas tree and named Kim Rider as who lit the tree. He announced holiday events including a community parade and a tree lighting at Adams Street Park on Dec. 6 and published Santa House hours for early December; he added, "Santa has requested no snakes or spiders," as a lighthearted instruction reported in the meeting record.
On projects, Snider said leaf pickup is ongoing with weather-related delays; the first piece of equipment for the Water Works Park splash pad was expected Dec. 2, 2025; and the city has received a Permit to Install from the Ohio EPA for the F.L.I.P. project but federal authorizations for funding remain pending due to a federal government shutdown. The meeting record also credited Alex Morgan-Johnson for coordinating Thanksgiving meal deliveries in multiple counties.
