Presque Isle council elects Jeff Wlette chair; Hank King chosen deputy

A councilor nominated Jeff Wlette for chair; after a secret ballot the chair announced the results: five votes for Wlette, one for Hank King and one for Mike (transcribed surname varies). Wlette thanked the council and pledged to lead meetings to give each member a voice while leaving operational matters to city staff.
The council then elected Hank King as deputy chair, with four votes for King and three for Mike (transcribed surname varies). Members also filled vacancies on local and regional boards and committees. Among those confirmed were appointments to the Aristic/Rustic Waste Solutions board (Herman Legassie), audit and finance committees (Craig Green and Hank King), the Presque Isle Development Fund board of trustees, downtown revitalization and TIFF advisory committees, and warrant signers for weekly financial documents (Craig Green and Debbie Plameumber).
Richard Courier was reappointed as city attorney, and city clerk Kim Finemore and other municipal officers (building, electrical, plumbing and health inspectors) were confirmed as read into the record.
The council handled the slate of appointments largely by motion and voice or unanimous consent, with individual ballots used only for the leadership posts. The session recessed later to hold the Presque Isle Industrial Council annual membership meeting and then reconvened for regular business.
The council scheduled its next regular meeting for Feb. 4, 2026, at 6 p.m. in council chambers.
