Missoula City Council unanimously adopted its FY2027 budget timeline during the June 15 meeting, setting procedural deadlines for submitting budget amendments and noting the public hearing and adoption dates.
Under the approved timeline, budget amendments must be submitted in writing to the clerk and finance director by 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026. Items councilors wish to have discussed in a Wednesday budget and finance committee session should be submitted by the Friday before that committee meeting so they can be attached to the committee agenda and publicly noticed.
Councilors and staff clarified how the Friday and Monday deadlines work: the Friday timing is intended to provide public notice for committee discussion; the August 3 deadline applies to amendments for subsequent deliberations. Council President Nent and others noted the public hearing opens on Monday, Aug. 10, with budget adoption the following Monday.
The motion to adopt the timeline passed by roll-call vote without opposition.
