The North Canton City Council's finance and property committee voted to send two finance items to the full council for consideration.
The first creates a donations fund to accept and spend gifts earmarked for parks projects without requiring a separate appropriation for each donation. Committee members said the ordinance sets an initial spending ceiling of $20,000 and allows staff to raise that cap as needed. Staff noted residents can also donate online and were directed to contact Katherine at city hall for details.
The second item transfers the Stratavon property back to the city's CIC so remediation work tied to a mine-remediation grant can proceed. Staff said returning the parcel to the CIC clears the path for testing and grant administration.
Both items passed the committee motion to place them on the next council agenda.
