Council sets $500 annual budget for grant-recipient celebration, plans April event

At the March 9 meeting, council member Yawa Degboe recommended using an allocated $500-per-year fund to host a celebration honoring the council’s grant recipients. The council agreed this could serve both as recognition and as a publicity opportunity for the group’s work.
Treasurer Meg Folcarelli reported that the council’s reports due in January to the Mass Cultural Council were submitted on time, noting that reimbursement requests have already started coming in from organizations including NESBE and Seaglass Theater Company. “All reports due in January to the Mass Cultural Council were timely submitted,” Meg Folcarelli said.
Members discussed logistics: the celebration is planned for April before school vacation week, Liz has contacted the library to discuss reserving a room, and Yawa will draft an email to grant recipients asking them to RSVP so the council can finalize a calendar of related events. The council also agreed to publicize the celebration in the Milton Times and to develop flyers and promotional tables; Thato volunteered to help with publicity and calendar development.
Next steps: Yawa will draft outreach to recipients and the council will confirm library reservations and finalize publicity materials ahead of the April event.
