RSU 23 authorizes additional $11,719 for Jameson Elementary water and mold repairs

The additional amount supplements $161,219 that the board had previously authorized for the project. Board documents and the motion presented at the meeting described the new authorization as required to address a declared emergency repair need at Jameson Elementary.
During committee reports, Finance Committee Chair Dave Boudreau said the board asked the district’s insurance broker to review the claim but was told the current policy would not cover the cost. Boudreau said the committee requested that the broker bring three alternative coverage quotes to the February meeting to evaluate options for future incidents.
The motion was made and seconded during the meeting and carried unanimously in a roll-call vote. The board did not specify an exact timeline for completing the additional work during the meeting.
