Denton trustees adopt surplus-property resolution, approve Allo franchise agreement and set fireworks date

At their Feb. 3 meeting, the Village of Denton Board of Trustees adopted Resolution No. 25-1-1 to offer eight large round brome hay bales for sealed bid. The board’s resolution directs the clerk to publish notice and reserves the right to reject any and all bids; meeting discussion noted a single bid of $35 was received and that a prior minimum bid had been set at $65. The board also noted that four bales at the wellhouse would be destroyed because of thorny locust trees.
Trustees voted to approve a 5% franchise fee and enter into a contract with Allo Communications LLC after a motion by Trustee Trent Wheatley, seconded by Trustee Amanda Fangmeier. The board carried the motion to enter the contract.
On community events, the board approved setting the annual fireworks show for July 5, 2025, following a motion by Wheatley and seconded by Fangmeier; trustees discussed increasing the fireworks budget from $4,500 to $5,500 during the meeting.
The board approved claims and payroll for the month: Claims List A $27,837.77; Claims List B $8,158.25; January payroll $9,386.73; Keno checking claims $17,157.50. All motions reported in the minutes were recorded as "Carried."
